We spent our vacation this summer at the beach in Vlissingen (Flushing, in English). It's a small city all the way on the southwest coast of the Netherlands with about 45,000 inhabitants. Compared to Breda (pop, 172,000), it's a quiet tourist town that caters to many German tourists in the summer months.
Jeroen's parents have been going to Vlissingen every year since he was a small child. Keeping the tradition, we've decided to make this our vacation spot in the years to come (at least while the kids are small and when were not visiting the US). Vlissingen is an hour from home making the ride quite easy and simple, especially with young children in tow.
This year we returned to Vlissingen for
2003 Germany
2004 home?
2005 Vlissingen
2006 Vlissingen
2007
2008 USA
2009 Vlissingen
2010 Vlissgen

"Insane people are always sure that they are fine. It is only the sane people who are willing to admit that they are crazy." ~Nora Ephron
About me
Hi. I'm Brigitte. I'm an American expatriate living in the Netherlands (Nederland) since 2002 with my Dutch hubby and our two kids. I'm enjoying the simple Dutch life...while trying to maintain some sense of sanity.
This blog
Most people buy a house, have a child, and move within a lifetime. I did all three within one year. Crazy has always felt like a normal state of mind for me.
I came to the Netherlands for the challenge, but I never expected how much I would learn about myself. Or how much I would change. This is my journey. Enjoy the ride.
